Workshop Methodolgy
of real project issues in the two-day workshop. Our Creative Problem
Solving Process and Action Planning is a classic approach to small team
empowerment, problem solving, and plan implementation. The addressing
of real issues during
the initial workshop helps to get partnerships started on the right
foot
with everyone pulling together as a team.
Prior to a workshop, we coordinate with the client and other appropriate individuals to identify specific team concerns and tailor the agenda to meet their needs.
During our workshops, we capture on paper all of the issues, action plans, participants' biographical data, phone numbers and addresses, goals and objectives, Partnering Charter Agreement, and all of the work done in the small groups. Each participant receives a complete record of everything that occurred (click to see typical workshop minutes) during the workshop, via e-mail in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, within two or three days following the session.
If there is not enough time to solve all identified issues during the workshop, the Partnering Teams identify individuals responsible for taking action, and the date and time for the next Partnering meeting to work the issue. This procedure ensures continuation of the problem solving process, and precludes the possibility that the Partnership becomes only an "event" of the workshop with no basis for continuation. The methods utilized by CTC ensure that the workshop is the start of a process that will grow over the life of the project.
We believe that the Partnering concept is applicable to any undertaking involving different individuals or organizations. Partnering began in the construction industry, but it is not limited to construction projects. Pete has successfully facilitated Partnering training workshops between different government agencies that have to work together, within manufacturing firms; and within academia. We have facilitated Partnering workshops, with aggregate attendance of over 10,000, for over $11 Billion worth of projects ranging in value from $500 Thousand to $ 1 Billion. Due to repeat business from satisfied clients, some individuals have attended as many as twenty different Partnering workshops facilitated by Pete.
We recommend and provide in-progress assessment, reinforcement, and refocusing service, to include periodic one-half day or one-day follow-up workshops. We help the team develop mechanisms for self-evaluation during the initial workshop. In the heat of day-to-day duties, it is sometimes easy for individuals to lose their Partnering focus and begin taking partisan positions on issues. The follow-up workshops are very effective in honing the team's collective and individual commitment to success and accomplishment of their joint goals and objectives. Specific issues are also identified, addressed, and "put to bed", rather than allowing them to fester and grow into full-blown problems which cannot be resolved without litigation.
We believe that our
greatest strength in facilitating Partnering workshops is our vast
"hands-on" Partnering experience. Pete Root helped pioneer Partnering
on the J-6 Large Rocket Test
Facility. This $250 Million, high-tech, complex, state-of-the-art
solid
rocket motor test facility included a $177 Million firm fixed price
construction
contract as its major component. The project was completed four months
ahead
of schedule, $12 Million under budget, and
the construction contractor worked nearly 3 million man-hours with only
four lost-time injuries. It is truly a Partnering success
story. The
J-6 team pioneered Partnering, and we can pass on successful ideas to
clients
to help them find new and innovative ways of looking at problems or
situations.
Workshop participants, who have participated in Partnering workshops
facilitated
by management consultants lacking an extensive construction and
Partnering
background, continually tell us how much more benefit they receive from
our
workshops due to Pete's "hands-on" construction Partnering and project
management
experience. Click here to see
